For Throwback Thursday, we're re-airing a 2011 Liz Phair session on today's episode of World Cafe. Phair's debut album, Exile In Guyville, came out in 1993 and was a huge success, topping Pitchfork's list that year.

In fact, 1993 was big for indie rock in general, with strong showings from Urge Overkill, The Smashing Pumpkins, Belly, Morphine, The Afghan Whigs and others. Indulge in a bit of '90s nostalgia with our 1993 Spotify playlist, which also includes notable songs from outside the indie-rock sphere.
